Texas officer shoots dead woman heard on video saying 'I'm pregnant'

A witness recorded a Texas police officer fatally shooting a woman he was trying to arrest-after she can be heard on the video yelling, "I'm pregnant".

The woman was in a vehicle park near an apartment building in Baytown at the time of the incident. However, police say as the officer tased the woman, she then gained control of his taser and tried to fire it at the officer. He stands over her, trying to stop her hands from moving, before stepping away again.

Shortly after, the woman can be heard yelling "I'm pregnant" before shots can be heard. It is not known how many times she was shot, but she died at the scene, reports KHOU11.

The lieutenant said the officer was patrolling the complex about 25 miles (40 kilometers) east of Houston and tried to arrest the 44-year-old African American woman because he knew she had outstanding warrants. The officer attempted to detain her, and a struggle ensued.

Turner and the officer engaged in a struggle after he sought to arrest her.

The Baytown Police Facebook appears to have been deleted.

"It's unfortunate that someone takes a tragic incident like this and starts posting it on social media", said Dorris.

As such, the device previously known as the Google Home Hub will now be the Nest Home Hub and sell for $129, down from $149. However, with the new Nest Hub Max , the company is extending access to more users with a new feature called Face Match.

"It's a tragic event for everybody involved".

Raquelle Cuellar, a resident in the apartment complex, told ABC 13 that the woman was often spotted walking her dog in the area. Police said they could not confirm whether she was pregnant and that an autopsy will determine that.

Kevin Davis, a police detective and the author of a book on investigating police use of force, said it is impossible to make a proper assessment of Turner's shooting based only on the video and facts released so far.

The incident was captured on social media and circulated overnight, CBS Houston affiliate KHOU-TV reported.

Mr Dorris said police would like to speak to the person who filmed the video. He has been placed on paid administrative leave. "Of course, our hearts go out to the families of the deceased as well as our officer".

Turner's sister told KPRC that Turner was on medication for schizophrenia and that she had two children and three grandchildren. "It's extremely disrespectful for everybody involved". In the first five months of 2019, at least 323 people have been shot and killed by police in the United States.
