The ministry said among those killed on Sunday were a pregnant woman and a four-month-old baby. Israel said one of the buildings included Hamas military intelligence and security offices. On Sunday night a rocket hit a house in Ashkelon killing a 58 year.old man He was the first such Israeli civilian fatality since the 2014.

Israel has maintained a crippling blockade of the Gaza Strip since 2007 which critics say amounts to collective punishment of the impoverished enclave's two million residents.
