Reports have surfaced over the past couple of days of Galaxy Fold devices breaking.

Samsung are delaying the release of the new product line to investigate and correct these issues.

Samsung is pushing the Galaxy Fold's launch back until "at least" May, say sources speaking to the Wall Street Journal.

Thus far however, neither an official release date nor Canadian pricing have been announced.

Galaxy Fold units were supposed to start shipping to customers on April 26th with units costing $1980 a piece. A spokesman for Samsung declined to confirm the report when contacted by Bloomberg.

Samsung's reasoning of the event location being an issue is false since the company has also canceled two other local Galaxy Fold activities in China. Reviewers of the device were impressed by the idea of folding smartphone screens but found the execution to be seriously lacking.

Samsung has reportedly postponed the launch events for its $2,000 Galaxy Fold smartphone in Hong Kong and Shanghai, according to reports by SamMobile and Engadget. Apparently Samsung has flagged the current hinge design as one of the issues causing an early death.

Recently, Samsung sent some units of the Galaxy Fold to reviewers and early reports show that there may be serious flaws with the display.

Samsung has not yet publicly commented on the delayed United States launch. We are encouraged by the excitement around the Galaxy Fold. The firm had earlier suggested some reviewers encountered screen failures because a protective layer meant to remain in place on the display was accidentally removed by reviewers. "We will also enhance the guidance on care and use of the display including the protective layer".

Some had mistakenly taken off a protective element on the screen which appeared to look like just like a screen protector that most people rip off when they use their phones for the first time.

Samsung has rebounded since then and was counting on the Galaxy Fold to extend its smartphone dominance while fending off emerging Chinese rivals such as Huawei Technologies Co.
