Justice Department says redacted Mueller report to be delivered Thursday

  • Trump Questions Why 'Radical Left Democrats' Should See Mueller Report

On Thursday, the Justice Department is expected to release the redacted version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report into possible collusion between Russian Federation and the Donald Trump campaign in 2016.

Justice Department spokesperson Kerri Kupec said Monday that the redacted report would be released on Thursday morning.

The report, which runs to almost 400 pages without exhibits, has been the subject of heated debate since Attorney-General William Barr notified lawmakers last month that Mueller had completed his 22-month investigation.

Two days later, Barr released a four-page summary of the "key findings".

Moments after the department announced its plans for releasing the report, the president went to Twitter to make another attack on Mueller's team and deride the "Russia Hoax".

In the synopsis, Barr wrote that he and deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein examined the evidence and determined that they would not be able to make a case for obstruction.

Mueller submitted the document to the attorney general on March 22.

They held Ottawa's pick from last year's Matt Duchene trade, but fell to No. 4 despite having the best odds (18.5) to win. It's the second time in three years that the Devils have defied the odds and wound up with the first overall pick.

Barr said he identified four areas of the report that he believed should be redacted including grand jury material and information the intelligence community believes would reveal intelligence sources and methods.

Mueller is also expected to shed light on whether, once in the White House, Trump sought to obstruct justice, for example by firing James Comey as FBI director in May 2017, when the agency was heading the Russian Federation investigation. The different categories of redactions will be color-coded in the final report, Barr told lawmakers.

Mr Montoya said it should fall to Congress to decide whether conduct discovered by Mr Mueller's team warranted an effort to remove the president from office. Barr noted in his summary that while Mueller's report "does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him".

House Democrats have already made formal requests to see the entirety of the report, and have floated taking the Justice Department to court over full disclosure of its contents and the underlying evidence.

"I think spying did occur", Barr said.

"To deny the Judiciary Committee and the Congress the knowledge of what's in parts of the Mueller report is not proper", Nadler said.
