ScoMo and Ardern weigh in on Folau controversy

England worldwide Billy Vunipola has been axed by Channel 4 after he came out on social media and backed Israel Folau following the Australian's controversial homophobic post.

Folau's younger brother John, who is also contracted with the Waratahs, seemingly posted on Instagram in support of Israel on Friday.

"This is my position on it", Vunipola wrote on Instagram. But in global rugby I don't think he's been an outstanding player and I think we compensate around him, we have to pick different players in different positions. There just comes a point when you insult what I grew up believing in that you just say enough is enough.

Folau was given an official warning by Rugby Australia previous year after similar sentiments were posted on social media.

"As representatives and role models Saracens players have a responsibility not only to themselves but to the club and wider society".

Folau's contract is set to be terminated following his latest controversial posts.

"RUPA does not endorse or condone the content of the social media post made by Israel Folau on Wednesday night, however it is imperative that the proper process is followed under the Code of Conduct", the statement read.

Shabow has made 10 appearances for the Mariners this season after joining the club from Newcastle Jets - scoring one goal in his 299 minutes.

Now Vunipola has defended the post and explained his own stance.

Scientists reveal first image of black hole
The project cost $50 million to $60 million, with $28 million of that coming from the National Science Foundation. Scientists have lifted the veil on the first images ever captured of a black hole's event horizon .

The comments were enough for Channel 4 to cut ties with the player, who had been signed up as the face of its European rugby coverage.

"He's saying how we live our lives needs to be closer to how God intended".

"I'm not flawless I'm at least everything on that list at least at one point in my life".

"I don't believe it's right and I don't believe he should say it, but I don't think we should be taking the mickey out of his religion".

England's Rugby Football Union said it would be meeting with Vunipola, like Folau of Tongan heritage, to discuss his comments.

'Following today's meeting the two organisations will update their respective Boards on the matter to consider next steps.

Folau escaped sanction when he posted similar comments past year but RA took a much harder line when, having repeatedly warned him against it, the player repeated the offence.

Brumbies flyer Tom Banks put his hand up to replace Wallabies fullback Israel Folau with a stunning return to form against the Lions in Super Rugby.
