  • Pronman Why Jack Hughes is an elite NHL prospect

The Devils defeated the Panthers 4-3 in overtime.

But suddenly, the Devils have become one of the NHL's most intriguing teams. "It's a huge day for the Devils", GM Ray Shero said after the draw.

Back in 2009-10, the "Taylor vs Tyler" battle to see who would go No. 1 was one of the primary storylines playing out below the National Hockey League.

Jack Hughes is expected to go first overall, where the New Jersey Devils will be picking and he is without a doubt the best-rated prospect the draft has to offer.

"It's just an exciting night".

This will be the first time since the 2012 NHL Draft that the Wild will have a lottery pick.

Speaking with reporters before the lottery order was announced, the five-foot-10, 168-pound Hughes outlined his skill set.

"For me, my biggest things are my inner drive, my competitiveness", said Hughes, who was born in Orlando, but grew up in Mississauga, Ont., while his dad was working as a development coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs. "I want to score every shift and make a play happen".

Google accidentally confirms new Pixel 3a smartphone
The Pixel 3a XL, on the other hand, would have a 6-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 and a pixel density of 400 PPI. Just as the weekend was kicking off, someone updated the Google Store to prematurely reveal new product launches for Google .

It's the second time in three years that the Devils have defied the odds and wound up with the first overall pick. The New York Rangers got the second pick, while the Chicago Blackhawks scored the third.

"I'm not prepared to say", Shero said inside the CBC building. "We want to fix that".

The Rangers' move from the sixth slot to No. 2 was big, but still didn't come close to matching the leap made by another Original Six team on Tuesday. They held Ottawa's pick from last year's Matt Duchene trade, but fell to No. 4 despite having the best odds (18.5) to win.

Colorado also dropped from first to fourth three years ago before selecting defenceman Cale Maker. The Hawks had a 2.5 percent chance to pick first. Because of the lottery format, the Wings also had the same odds at the second pick and third pick. Montreal remained unchanged and will select 15th. I translate really well. You can partially thank Devils forward Taylor Hall for that.

Hall has had some incredible luck with the lottery balls in his career.

The Blackhawks have picked No. 3 in the NHL Draft before and the last time they had the pick back in 2006, they drafted Jonathan Toews.

American center Jack Hughes is projected as the first overall pick.

Though it's never entirely by design, the Devils are doing a great job of riding the boom-or-bust blueprint.
