  • India planning 'military action' against Pakistan this month, discloses foreign minister

At his residence in Multan, Qureshi told the media that "We have reliable intelligence that India is planning a new attack on Pakistan".

"Preparations are being made, and there are chances of another attack against Pakistan".

"An incident similar to Pulwama could recur in the occupied Kashmir valley", he had said, adding the objective of this sinister plan was to build diplomatic pressure on Pakistan and justify Indian military action.

"After consultation with Prime Minister Imran Khan, we have chose to share this information with the people of Pakistan as well as the global community immediately. According to our information, the action could be taken between 16 and 20 April", Qureshi claimed, adding that Pakistan was preparing to respond.

Pakistan had "reliable intelligence" that India would attack again this month, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said earlier, as tension over a February standoff between the two nuclear-armed neighbors had appeared to ease.

"If it happens, you can imagine the impact of the occurrence on the peace and stability of the region".

Pakistan on Sunday released 100 imprisoned Indian fishermen as part of a goodwill gesture that would see the phase-wise release of 260 more Indian nationals in the month of April, Express News reported.

He told reporters in the southern city of Multan that Pakistan has formally shared the "authentic information" and conveyed its "apprehensions" to diplomats in Islamabad representing the five permanent member countries of the United Nations Security Council.

The Indian government was quick to reject this claim, branding it "irresponsible and preposterous" and a call for action issued to terrorists, the Times of India wrote. "We want the worldwide community to take notice of this irresponsible behaviour and reprimand them [India] for taking this route", he said, adding that India's action could have an impact on the region's peace and stability.

Indian Defence Ministry's spokesman Lt. Col. Devender Anand said in a statement: "Around 7.30 am, Pakistan initiated the attack violating the ceasefire agreement".

The vehicle bombing triggered a violent reaction from India, which on February 27 launched an air strike on what it said was a training base of the group. "It is our policy to keep the nation informed", he added.

Pakistan warned Sunday that rival India is planning to launch a fresh military assault against the country, calling for the global community's urgent diplomatic intervention to deter New Delhi from endangering regional peace and stability.
