When the teams came out for the second half there was a hope that Liverpool would kick on and reaffirm their position as the Premier League's top side.

Forward Salah became the fastest player in the Merseyside club's history to hit 50 league goals following his sensational solo effort in Friday evening's 3-1 success at Southampton.

And fans gleefully welcomed back their hero at a crucial time for the club's season.

Liverpool returned to the summit of the Premier League after coming from behind to beat Southampton 3-1 on the south coast.

Salah's dry spell has been well-documented but he ended his eight-game wait for a goal in the 80th minute, embarking on a long solo run before finishing superbly.

However, Salah launched a counter attack from inside his own half before the former Chelsea FC winger held his nerve to place his finish past Angus Gunn despite a lengthy run.

They scored a nice goal, not world-class defending but we stayed calm.

"There's not many games left, any mistake can cost us".

Avengers 4 is scheduled for an April 26 release in the US, April 25 in the United Kingdom and April 24 in Australia. But just like Tony and Steve, the sites and the fans have been fighting back.

Salah is at his most unsafe on the stroke of half-time - scoring 18% of his goals in the last five minutes of the opening half, including stoppage time.

Southampton were left angry that Salah was not flagged offside in the build-up, but the ball eventually fell for Trent Alexander-Arnold and his in-swinging cross was met too powerfully with his head by Keita for Gunn to keep out.

This was his 18th Premier League goal of the season, with only Sergio Aguero more prolific.

Give or take an early chance for Sadio Mane, Southampton started with a real objective and Long could have bagged himself a second after Trent Alexander-Arnold conceded possession. "It was good, I liked it".

Here are five things we learned as Liverpool put the pressure back on Manchester City. "My first goal in nine games, his [Henderson's] first goal in 20 games!"

"It was goal number 50 for Liverpool (in the league), an incredible number".

"I thought we showed great character in the first half. I am really happy with the performance, we knew it would be hard so winning here is not easy but we did it".

Firmino dragged a chance of his own well wide shortly before the break, but it remained all square at half time and Southampton again came out of the blocks quicker at the start of the second half.
