The focus at Apple's much-anticipated media event set for Monday will be largely on the company's updated Apple News service as well as its plans for original TV shows offered through a Netflix-like package available exclusively to Apple device owners.

Apple has used a $1 billion budget to buy dozens of original TV shows in hopes it can land a breakout hit, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The streaming service will apparently included content from Showtime, HBO and Starz at launch, these are expected to be included in the $9.99 a month fee.

"This is a pivotal shift for Apple and in our opinion, the biggest strategic move since the iPhone was unveiled in 2007", he said. Indeed, there is still a lot we don't know about the service; but we do know that Netflix is not going to be part of it.

On March 25, Apple's CEO Tim Cook will take the stage at the Steve Jobs Theater to expand the company's services side of the business.

The hugely popular firm will begin its keynote at 10am local time, 5pm GMT, and expect plenty of surprises during the event which is taking place at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Newcastle striker Salomon Rondon scored on six minutes before Jhon Murillo doubled the lead just before half-time. Lautaro Martinez scored Argentina's only goal of the game as he finished off a wonderful counter attack.

Apple has been working on original TV shows starring celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, who have been invited to the event. It's not exactly like there's a shortage of streaming services already out there, including Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Hulu (and in Canada, Crave), among others.

This service will combine stories from newspapers, websites and magazines into a new tab in the Apple News app on iPhones, iPads and Macs.

He is expected to shine a light on two new products - a content streaming platform and a news subscription - ushering a completely new era for the Cupertino giant.

Apple's latest initiative is trying to gain new ground in a marketplace catering to viewers' voracious appetite for programming.

Although not confirmed, it seems Apple wants to replicate the success of its Music service with a video platform that customers will pay a monthly subscription to watch.

Amazon does not disclose the number of Prime Video subscribers, but it could be used by the 100 million members in more than a dozen countries. Dow Jones will be hiring more reporters just to give Apple News members access to more news stories.
