Singer allegedly had several strategies for getting clients' kids ahead of the pack.

Boston U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling said the probe remains underway, which means the public will be treated to even more of these character studies on what he characterized as the corrupting force "of wealth and privilege".

Students say it's infuriating to think about how hard they studied throughout high school and entrance exams to get into prestigious schools while another student's parents, in one case, paid $1.2 million to get their child into college.

Actresses Lori Laughlin and Felicity Huffman were among the parents charged in the scheme.

The ACT and SAT are both standardised tests used for college admissions in the US. "There can be no separate college-admission system for the wealthy, and I'll add there will not be a separate criminal-justice system either". Her score increased by a total of 400 points between the first time she took the test (uncorrected) and the second (corrected), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Every student deserves to be considered on their individual merits when applying to college, and it's disgraceful to see anyone breaking the law to give their children an advantage over others", U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said in a statement Wednesday.

Parents paid as little as $15 000 and as much as $6 million to benefit from Singer's operation.

"He does have really strong legs", McGlashan told Singer, according to charging records.

Lori Loughlin's Daughter Olivia Jade Loses Sephora Partnership
Coaches from Yale, Stanford, Wake Forest and Georgetown universities and USC , among others, are implicated in the case. Loughlin and her husband were taken into federal custody and later released on separate $1 million bonds on Wednesday.

The Henriquezes reportedly tried to get their daughter into Georgetown University by passing her off as some kind of top-ranking tennis champ when reality proved otherwise.

McGlashan allegedly paid to have his son's ACT exam doctored to have a phony football profile created to help his child get into the University of California.

Among the other parents charged was Gordon Caplan, of Greenwich, Connecticut, co-chairman of the law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher, based in NY.

In detailed narratives interspersed with email excerpts and phone transcripts, the feds paint college counselor William Singer as the ringleader of the pay-to-play enterprise.

"But once he gets here, he just goes, he doesn't go to athletic orientation, He goes to the regular orientation like all my other kids just did. and everything's fine".

Stanford fired sailing coach John Vandemoer after he was charged with accepting $270,000 in contributions to the program for agreeing to recommend two prospective students for admission.

Some attempted to ply the sport and then quit; some claimed injuries and never joined the teams, others, Lelling said, "simply never showed up" to play.
