Tesla's Thursday night reveal event for the 2020 Tesla Model Y electric crossover SUV, just as previous events from the automaker, was raucous and packed with enthusiastic fans, including many who appeared to relish everything uttered by CEO Elon Musk.

The estimated EPA range is 300 miles, going down to 280 for the Long Range with AWD and Performance that comes standard with all-wheel drive.

The performance Model Y - which will have a 280 mile range and a 150 miles per hour top speed - will come with a $60,000 price tag.

At the cheaper end of the scale, the Standard Range Model Y will cost $39,000 and can travel 230 miles on one charge. Musk had said in a January conference call that the company would "probably see a higher [sales] volume of the Y than [the Telsa Model 3]". "This thing will be really tight on corners and we expect it will be the safest midsize SUV in the world by far".

Just as its Model 3 predecessor, the entry level Model Y Standard will take longer to come to market, with a planned release date of spring 2021. Unlike the Model 3, the Model Y has a panoramic roof, which gives gorgeous driving views. Deposits can be made for $2500, a notable hike over the $1000 deposit required to get in line for a Model 3 when it was announced.

The event started with Elon Musk talking about the history of Tesla and the electric vehicle scenario overall, and how it has grown from a gimmick to one of the most anticipated upcoming tech innovations in a decade. With that we were back at the pick up and drop off zone and were done. The fifth Tesla EV-after the original Roadster, the S, the X, and the 3-shares its wheelbase, chassis, and powertrain options with the brand's current smallest model, the Model 3 sedan. Inside the vehicle, it will have a panoramic glass roof, up to seven seats and the same spartan interior as the Model 3 featuring the central landscape touchscreen.

"Twelve months from now we will have made about one million vehicles", Musk said at the event, without specifying the breakdown of models.

Despite concerns from industry analysts about production capacity, Musk said Tesla will attempt to buck historic production performance and get the Model Y into dealers and back on schedule this year.

British lawmakers overwhelmingly voted for Brexit delay
Success would be a remarkable turnaround for May, whose authority has been shredded by a series of defeats in Parliament. To take no deal off the table, it is not enough to vote against no deal - you have to agree to a deal.

Tesla is hoping there will pent-up demand for the Model Y, almost four years after Musk first began touting the company's plans to make an SUV.

The Model Y is compatible with Tesla's third-generation Superchargers, which are capable of 250kW charging.

Enter the Tesla Model Y. Completing the second phase of Tesla's S3XY automotive roll-out, the Model Y is in many respects a taller Model 3.

Musk also suggested that driving a Model Y on Mars in ten years was not out of the question.

The Model Y is about 10 percent larger than the Model 3.

Jaguar's I-Pace, already on sale, delivers a 480 km (300 mile) range.

The Model Y's immediately-recognizable problem is that it looks like it shares over 90% of its parts with the Model 3, rather than the 75% Tesla claims. "Once it's complete, it will be the equivalent of our Fremont auto factory plus our Nevada Gigafactory combined, integrating the two, which kind of makes sense".
