Kristy Morcum, spokesperson for Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield Park, Arizona, told Azfamily that the woman returned to the park and apologized, saying she "feels disgusting about the bad publicity the zoo is getting regarding the incident".

Officials have released the 911 call after a jaguar attacked a woman at the Wildlife World Zoo near Phoenix. "Still sending prayers to her and her family", the zoo posted on late Saturday evening.

At some point shortly thereafter, the jaguar reached its two front paws outside the cage and grabbed the woman's arm.

Flores then took the woman's sleeve to pull her away from the animal.

Shawn Gilleland of the Rural Metro Fire Department told PEOPLE that the woman was transported to a hospital following the incident, where she was treat for lacerations to her arm and hand.

"Please understand why barriers are put in place", officials tweeted. "That happens occasionally. And we put substantial barriers there and if people cross them, they can get in trouble".

Adam Wilkerson, who was at the zoo on Saturday, told FOX10 he heard the woman scream for help. She also reportedly apologized and admitted fault in the incident.

"There's no way to fix people crossing barriers", said zoo director Mickey Ollson, AzFamily reported in another article. If it weren't for my mom's quick-thinking with the water bottle that Jaguar would not have let go of the poor girl's arm.

The woman apologized to the zoo after the incident was over, although she did not admit to climbing over the concrete barrier.

The zoo has temporarily removed the jaguar from exhibition. In another statement, the zoo thanked everyone who supported its decision not to euthanize the animal and said they were open to welcoming the woman back to the zoo.

In response to multiple inquiries on Twitter about what would happen to the jaguar, the zoo said she would not be put down and that it is not the animal's fault when barriers are crossed.

Michele Flores was at the zoo with her son and grandkids when she saw the attack.
