Michael Cohen sues Trump Organization for almost $2M in unpaid legal fees

  • Michael Cohen former attorney and fixer for President Donald Trump is suing the Trump Organization

During open testimony before the House Oversight Committee last month, Cohen said he had never attempted to secure a pardon.

"I have never asked for it, nor would I accept a pardon from President Trump", Cohen said before the House Intelligence Committee.

The move comes after Michael Cohen's attorney, Lanny Davis, confirmed on Thursday that Cohen's previous lawyer had sounded out a president's team about the possibility of a pardon before his home and office were raided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in April 2017 in pursuit of evidence of hush money payouts.

"His lawyers said that they went to my lawyers and asked for pardons", Trump said. He lied again! He also badly wanted to work at the White House.

The poll was conducted during the first four days of March, directly after former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen testified to Congress about his dealings with the president. "He told our staff, 'I planned this hearing, I picked this committee, I had to persuade Michael Cohen to do it.' Maybe most importantly he said 'I had to persuade chairman Cummings to do it'". He was sentenced in December to three years in prison, and his term is expected to begin May 6.

Cohen has said he worked on the Moscow project for almost a year while Trump was running for president, and acted at Trump's direction to break campaign-finance laws by arranging "hush money" payments to women who claim to have had sexual relationships with Trump.

They also alleged that it served as a "cutout" for money raised from the Ocasio-Cortez's campaign and the two PACs. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) to a child on Tuesday, and even belittled the freshman lawmaker as "adorable".

Questions on whether Cohen lied during a congressional hearing about never asking for a pardon just so happen to be a part of the perjury probe House Republicans have already referred to the Department of Justice.

Cohen this week completed meetings with congressional investigators looking into Mr Trump's activities. During last week's public testimony, he called Trump a con man, a cheat and a racist. "That is the post-JDA Michael Cohen, committed to change his life and tell the truth", Davis told ABC News overnight.

The case is Cohen v Trump Organization LLC, New York State Supreme Court, New York County, No. 651377/2019.

In a statement, a lawyer for the Trump Organization, Marc Mukasey, disputed Cohen's claims.

Cohen is also seeking reimbursement for an additional $1.9 million he was ordered to pay in fines, forfeiture and restitution after he pleaded guilty to breaking campaign finance laws, evading taxes and lying to Congress, the lawsuit said.

Cohen told Congress about his role in a hush-money payment meant to silence adult film star Stormy Daniels, who says she had an affair with Trump.
