Roma is taking a "What have you done for me lately?" approach to its managerial position after losing to Porto in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Tiquinho Soares put Porto ahead in Portugal before Daniele De Rossi levelled from the penalty spot, but Marega's 52nd-minute goal ultimately forced extra time.

Di Francesco moved to Roma from Sassuolo in the summer of 2017.

After cancelling out Roma's 2-1 first-leg lead to take the tie beyond 90 minutes, Telles' late strike, after a Video Assistant Referee review, earned them a 4-3 aggregate victory, and increased the pressure on the Italians' manager Eusebio Di Francesco.

Roma are close to appointing Claudio Ranieri as their new manager, according to Sky in Italy.

Club president Jim Pallotta said: "On behalf of myself and everyone at AS Roma, I'd like to thank Eusebio for his work and his commitment".

Game of Thrones final season trailer reaction from a superfan
The new trailer is the first real glimpse HBO has released of Season 8, aside from a few photos and social media teasers . It doesn't reveal much that we don't already know, but it takes that bar of excitement to another level entirely.

Porto's lead lasted barely 10 minutes as Eder Militao lunged in on Argentine Perotti, with De Rossi coolly rolling his penalty past three-time Champions League victor Iker Casillas. "We all wish him well for the future".

Roma was eliminated from the tournament on Wednesday on Alex Telles's 117th-minute penalty, controversially won when Alessandro Florenzi was adjudged to have pulled Fernando to the ground in the area.

The Portuguese side needed an extra time goal to secure their passage through to the quarter finals of the competition with a 3-1 win.

Domestically, Roma now sit fifth in the Serie A table, three points behind Inter for the final Champions League place.

Ranieri previously managed Roma between 2009 and 2011 - leading them to a second-place finish in 2010.
