The latest designs from singer Katy Perry's new shoe line have been pulled from stores after outcry over one of them looking like blackface. The label also is sold at retailers such as Macy's, Zappos and Amazon but the shoes in question are not now available on their websites.

Perry issued a statement saying she was "saddened when it was brought to my attention that it was being compared to painful images reminiscent of blackface".

On Sunday, activist Tamika Mallory shared a photo of the Katy Perry Collections loafers on her Instagram with the caption, "Am I losing it?"

Katy Perry says she has been "saddened" by the backlash caused by the designs of some of her shoes, which have been accused of depicting blackface.

Jake Tapper Debunks As ‘Lying’ Trump’s El Paso Border Wall Claims
The Make America Great Again rally will take place in El Paso, Texas on Monday at the County Coliseum. President Donald Trump is assailing Democrats over faltering border security negotiations.

Last week, the designer fashion giant Gucci was forced to apologize after releasing a turtle neck sweater with sewn on lips that resembled the racist trope.

The shoes that offended some people were part of a Katy Perry Collection which was sold in U.S. stores such as Dillard's and Walmart. "Our intention was never to inflict any pain".

The shoe, which comes in black and beige in both loafer and sandal form, has two eyes, a nose, and a mouth with red lips on the front. "Reaching" or not, information is too readily accessible for this to occur. While Perry may have apologized for the shoe design, the damage is done, and once that respect is lost, it's hard to gain back.

"Off the back of that they're going to get more traffic to their website and make more sales". It could be a long time before people see past the disappointing occurrence.
