On Feb 11, 1979, Iran's army declared its neutrality, paving the way for the collapse of the USA -backed monarch, the United States' closest ally in the Middle East.

Last week, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei claimed that Iran's infamous "Death to America" chanting is intended not at the United States as a whole, but merely at President Trump.

Iran displayed its ballistic missile capabilities during a parade marking the anniversary, including the Zolfaqar, a ground-to-ground missile with a 700 kilometre (435 mile) range and the Qiam, with a range of 800 km, according to Tasnim news agency. "Now it´s up to the Iranian regime to change its behavior, & ultimately up to the Iranian people to determine the direction of their country", John Bolton tweeted.

"40 years of corruption".

He compared the United States sanctions and economic hardships to "riding a bicycle when someone puts a stick in the wheels" but pointed to advances in other fields as more than making up for them.

Today, as part of the jihad-exporting regime's celebration of the Islamic Revolution, the infamously anti-Semitic and anti-Israel government chose to once again casually threaten to attack the Jewish state. The unrest was the most serious threat to Iran's religious leaders since protests over disputed elections in 2009.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran are high after the U.S. withdrew from an worldwide nuclear deal aimed at curbing Iran's nuclear ambitions, and re-imposed sanctions that have hurt the Iranian economy.

In a speech at Tehran's Azadi (Freedom) square, Rouhani said USA efforts to separate Iran from other countries would fail.

He also blasted a USA "conspiracy" against the country, saying, "The presence of people today on the streets all over Islamic Iran. means that the enemy will never reach its evil objectives".

Trump also reestablished USA economic sanctions against Iran.

But he remained defiant on Monday as Iranians recalled the end of a monarch who catered to the rich.

"The Iranian people have and will have some economic difficulties (due to the sanctions) but we will overcome the problems by helping each other", Rouhani said.

The Israeli prime minister's comments came in direct response to IRGC political affairs spokesman Yadollah Javani, who warned earlier on Monday that Iran would attack Israel if threatened by Washington. "If this regime makes the bad mistake and tries to destroy Tel Aviv and Haifa, it will not succeed, but it will be the last Revolution Day that they will celebrate".

Regional power Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries have viewed Iran with great suspicion since the Islamic Revolution swept the Shah from power, fearing Khomeini would inspire Islamic militants across the region.

Dismissing calls that Iranian regional influence should be curbed, the deputy commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) was quoted as saying on February 11 that "the enemy can not ask us to leave the region".
