Trump's remark on Republicans making a move in the Commonwealth's elections comes as many speculate how the controversy surrounding Virginia's top three government officials will shake out.

Governor Ralph Northam was the first to face the storm, after a photo emerged last week showing him posing in his medical school yearbook, in either minstrel-style blackface or wearing Ku Klux Klan robes.

Herring's admission came after a meeting with the Virginia legislative black caucus, and before any unfortunate photos were dug up.

But blackface has gotten a lot of attention over the last few months. Lamont Bagby, said Wednesday.

That would leave attorney general Mark Herring, a prominent Democrat who had called for Northam's resignation, and was widely expected to run for governor himself in 2021.

But then rumours began circulating of another controversial photo, and this time it was Herring who was said to been in "blackface".

"The woman accusing Justin Fairfax of sexual assault told a Democratic congressman a year ago that the Virginia lieutenant governor had a "#MeToo allegation" against him, sources tell CNN, though Rep. Bobby Scott's aides say he didn't learn of the full extent of her allegations until this week.

Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax, who is African-American, condemned Northam's taste in costumes but stopped short of calling for his resignation.

"While this allegation has been both surprising and hurtful, I also recognize that no one makes charges of this kind lightly, and I take it and this situation very seriously", Fairfax wrote. "Over the past several days, he has even toyed with the idea of leaving the Democratic Party and governing as an independent - a sign of the degree that he is isolated from every political ally, from his state party and from the national party".

A Cat Has Miraculously Survived After Being Frozen Solid
Fluffy is now fully recovered and back home with her owners and will remain indoors for the foreseeable future. Fluffy the cat was dethawed after she was found buried in snow, her fur matted in ice.

"With tremendous anguish, I am now sharing this information about my experience and setting the record straight", Tyson said in a statement.

Fairfax has repeatedly denied her allegations, saying that the encounter was consensual and that he is the victim of a strategically timed political smear. If Northam resigns, Lt. -Gov. Herring, 57, who previously called for the governor to quit, is second in line to replace the governor and has expressed gubernatorial ambitions of his own. "And in my remarks on Monday, I think you could hear how emotional dealing with an allegation that I know is not true has been for me". "We think the process is moving too rapidly", McShane said.

Republican President Donald Trump on Twitter said he believed the scandal would boost his party's chances in 2020.

At the same time, the Democrats nationally have taken a hard line against misconduct in their ranks because women and minorities are a vital part of their base and they want to be able to criticize Trump's behavior without looking hypocritical.

Fairfax vehemently denies the assault claim. On Wednesday afternoon, he tweeted: "The past actions of Virginia's leaders are abhorrent, but many Republicans around the country are engaged in modern-day Jim Crow voter suppression". In the statement, Herring admits that his friends suggested that they attend the party dressed as rappers.

"This conduct is in no way reflective of the man I have become in the almost 40 years since", he said.

"I am not either of the people in that photo", he said with his wife by his side.

"I'm not privy to any plans, but I suspect he will step up and lead", said Republican Sen.
