Miami Heat Not on Anthony Davis’ List of Preferred Trade Destinations

The Lakers are actively trying to acquire Davis from the Pelicans, but according to a report from ESPN, New Orleans is nearly looking to be "overcompensated" in a deal to trade him before the deadline.

With the increasing likelihood the Pelicans don't trade Anthony Davis to the LA Lakers, here's a look at what the Boston Celtics could offer on July 1st.

At the moment the Lakers are still waiting on the Pelicans to respond to the offer, though analysts note that the deal is everything New Orleans had hoped to acquire for Davis, in terms of young talent, cap relief, and multiple first round picks. This gives another big market team like the Lakers a chance of strong-arming the Pelicans into a awful trade that only benefits one team. The NBA trade deadline isn't until Thursday, so there's plenty of time for the Lakers to reengage the Pelicans.

The ball is back in the Pelicans' court heading into Thursday's trade deadline, but we don't expect the Pelicans to budge, and we doubt AD will be going anywhere until the summer.

He is still eligible to sign a five-year, $240 million supermax extension in the summer, while he can choose to become a free agent in the summer of 2020.

After that news hit social media, Anthony Davis took to Instagram and showed his displeasure by "liking" a photo showing what the Lakers were willing to give up to acquire him.

The Anthony Davis trade saga has been one of the most compelling storylines the National Basketball Association has seen in some time.

For his part, Davis has said he intends to play for the Pelicans as long as he remains on the roster, but that the team has "every right" to hold him out.

So far, the Lakers have felt that conversations with New Orleans have been one-sided, and they are growing increasingly pessimistic about the Pelicans' willingness to make a deal with them, sources with knowledge of the discussions told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. The Pelicans need to wait until they can get a player with that clear All-NBA ceiling before pulling the trigger. Hopefully you can see one of these deals coming to fruition. But, make no mistake, Ainge will, under no circumstance, dangle Tatum in any possible Anthony Davis deal.

Davis prefers a move to the Lakers, league sources told Wojnarowski.

Giving in to the Pelicans' demands for between six and eight draft picks would have been lunacy.
