NYC Promises 'Guaranteed' Healthcare for All Residents

New York City will soon guarantee comprehensive health care to every resident, regardless of their ability to pay.

Mayor Bill de Blasio's ambitious plan, dubbed the "most comprehensive plan in the nation", will serve some 600,000 New Yorkers without insurance by strengthening the city's public health insurance option - MetroPlus.

When asked on MSNBC for a response to taxpayers who do not want to pay for the health care of undocumented residents-and young adults who think they do not need health care-the mayor said New Yorkers will have to pay anyway because, when these groups get sick, they will be sent to emergency rooms that costs the public health care system money.

In a tweet, de Blasio said the plan will "ensure the first stop for people isn't the emergency room".

As Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro pointed out on Twitter, de Blasio's government estimates the plan will cost the city no more than $100 million per year - an amount that de Blasio says precludes having to raise taxes to cover the program. The idea is to avoid going to an emergency room for non-emergency situations, freeing them up for their intended objective.

De Blasio makes it sound as though illegal immigrants have not been able to get health care until now. Eric Phillips, de Blasio's spokesman, claimed this program is for direct coverage.

De Blasio, now in his second term as mayor of the country's most populous city, has long supported universal healthcare coverage. Today I'm announcing a plan to guarantee health care for all New Yorkers.

Speaking on national television Tuesday morning, the mayor unveiled the proposed NYC Care program, to reach those who now lack health coverage, including some 300,000 undocumented immigrants.

Citizenship Amendment Bill passed in Lok Sabha
He affirmed that the NESO would continue with its movement along with its federal units after the Rajya Sabha session. Bora and the AGP leadership had promised that they would exit the alliance if the BJP advanced with the bill.

In New York, de Blasio's plan, to begin this summer, provides primary and specialty care to more than half a million uninsured New Yorkers. Typically, the uninsured go to an emergency room to be seen.

The NYC Care program will give people access to medical, pharmacy, mental health and substance abuse services.

Trump made reversing former president Barack Obama's health care law a key pledge of his campaign, and his Republican party successfully repealed in 2017 a key provision meant to keep overall costs down by ensuring healthy individuals bought insurance.

How about the Mayor of New York City take care of the people that was born here, like the ones that are sleeping on our streets.

In a nod to creating a state-based single-payer system, the Democratic governor sent a letter to President Donald Trump and congressional leadership on Monday requesting that the federal government "empower States like mine to design and implement truly transformative solutions for securing affordable health care for all".

Katz noted that NYC Care is a more encompassing program than the one developed in San Francisco, where he used to work.

Walking and driving in New York City may be getting safer, according to new statistics that found that traffic deaths are at their lowest number in a century.
