  • Dodgers fans are demanding team to sign Bryce Harper after massive trade

The Los Angeles Dodgers traded outfielders Matt Kemp and Yasiel Puig to the Cincinnati Reds, the teams announced Friday.

Are you kidding? Four big-league players - including three former All-Stars - and $7 million in exchange for the busted right arm and weighty contract of Homer Bailey.

-Joakim Soria agreed to a two-year deal worth $15 million with the Athletics, according to multiple reports.

But they're still the Dodgers, and seeing as their mountain of redundancies has carried them all the way to the World Series the past two years, it's hard to imagine them entirely abandoning the approach.

The Reds acquired an intriguing piece in Yasiel Puig, who, if he taps into his potential, has the opportunity to re-make his career in Cincinnati. The Dodgers have been connected to free-agent superstar Bryce Harper throughout the offseason.

Trading Kemp, Puig and Wood could purely be seen as a move to cut money off the Dodgers' payroll.

It's hard to place a role for Bailey on the current version of the Dodgers.

Wood, who is also entering his final year of arbitration, was expendable after finishing last season as a reliever. This marks the fourth time he's been traded since signing that deal. So much that - it appears they will pay his salary for him to never pitch in a Dodgers uniform. He hit.290 with 21 home runs and 85 RBIs in 146 games, posting an.818 OPS (his best since.852 in 2014).

Farmer, 28, spent the majority of last season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he posted a.785 OPS with seven homers in 312 plate appearances while splitting time between catcher and third base. The deal will pay him $25 million over two seasons and has a vesting option worth $12 million (or a $2.5 million buyout) for the following season, according to The Athletic.

Downs was ranked by MLB Pipeline as the Reds' No. 7 prospect, while Gray ranked No. 20.
