Developers and publishers have often used the awards show as an end of year foil to E3, revealing things that weren't quite ready to be shown at the gaming industry's summer event. We know for sure Ancestors, the game from Assassin's Creed creator Patrice Désilets, will show new footage, as will BioWare's upcoming online shooter Anthem.

The Game Awards airs online starting at 8:30 p.m. EST on Thursday, Dec. 6.

The Game Awards are right around the corner - here's how to watch them - and while the awards serve as a celebration of 2018, fans are are also tuning in for delectable hints of the games arriving in 2019 and beyond.

The Game Awards are an annual award show hosted and produced by videogame journalist Geoff Keighley - this is the fifth year the show has taken place.

Trump will not be speaking at funeral for George H.W. Bush
President Bush will be given a state funeral at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. He will lie in state in D.C. through Wednesday.

If you're not lucky enough to be attending the event in person, you can catch all of the Game Awards action live on nearly every streaming platform.

Along with the ceremony, The Game Awards will also be littered with performances and reveals. But then if it doesn't happen, there's the sense of disappointment that stems from something we didn't even know for sure would happen in the first place.

Fortnite is adding a creative mode.

We know Fallout: New Vegas developer Obisidan is working on a new RPG, and it looks like we might finally get a glimpse of it at The Game Awards 2018. What game do you think will win Game of the Year this year?
