In Buenos Aires, which hosts the first G20 meeting to be held in South America, more than 20,000 police have been deployed to maintain order.

The decision also follows the United States president's former lawyer Michael Cohen pleading guilty to lying to Congress about a Trump property deal in Russian Federation during the 2016 election.

The Kremlin says it has not been notified of a cancellation of the much-anticipated meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.

All of which means that Trump will have to deal with more than the usual forced grins and awkward handshakes when he confronts his summit counterparts in Buenos Aires. Roughly an hour before it was posted, he told reporters he would "probably" meet with Putin, despite his displeasure with Russian actions against Ukraine.

Volodymyr Omelyan, Ukraine's infrastructure minister, on Thursday accused Russia of imposing a de facto blockade on two Ukrainian ports on the Sea of Azov by barring ships from leaving and entering the sea via the Russian-controlled Kerch Strait.

The Trump administration has sent lethal weapons like anti-tank missiles to Ukraine and U.S. National Guard forces have trained the Ukrainian army fighting Russian-backed separatists.

On Sunday, Russia seized two Ukraine gunboats and 1 tugboat sailing toward the Kerch Strait, the only entrance to the Sea of Azov, after failing to respond to lawful demands to stop, according to the Federal Security Service (FSB). He said Trump is "not going away". "I was thinking about it, but they'd like to have it", Trump said.

California's deadliest wildfire fully contained
Crews are sifting through ash and debris looking for human remains while also trying to fix power, telephone and gas utilities. Some 4,000 firefighters from throughout the state and the West battled the flames at the height of the fire.

Tensions have loomed between Ukraine and Russian Federation after the crisis over the weekend in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov.

Mr Trump said he pulled out due to tensions over Russian forces opening fire on Ukrainian navy boats and then seizing them and their crew on Sunday near Crimea, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014.

He will press Chinese President Xi Jinping to avert the stepped-up tariffs by throwing open China's markets to USA competition and protecting foreign companies' intellectual property.

Ahead of the summit, International Monetary Fund boss Christine Lagarde warned against further trade barriers, including Mr Trump's proposed vehicle tariffs to protect American auto jobs.

"For many, especially in the United States and perhaps among allies, such a meeting would signify that the U.S. approves of this action by Russia", Schultz explained.

In a speech to politicians in Spain, where he is conducting a state visit before attending the Group of 20 leaders' summit in Argentina, he said the world is facing "instability, uncertainty and hot topics without precedents in our history".
