The historically devastating Camp Fire has displaced more than 100,000 people in California, and destroyed thousands of buildings.
Starting on November 8, the fire burned almost 154,000 acres and destroyed almost 14,000 homes.
Searchers wore yellow rain slickers and hard hats to protect against tumbling trees and branches while investigating signs that people might not have gotten out of their homes, such as a auto left in the driveway or a house having a wheelchair ramp.
Crews are sifting through ash and debris looking for human remains while also trying to fix power, telephone and gas utilities.
Crews resumed the grim work today as rain cleared out of the devastated town of Paradise.
CAL FIRE has reported that 3 were injured during the firefighting operation.
The fire, which broke out on 8 November, is so far known to have killed 87 people although another 249 people remain unaccounted for.

More than two weeks after the deadliest fire on record in California swept through Butte County, killing at least 85 people and destroying 14,000 homes, officials announced Sunday that the Camp fire was finally 100 percent contained.
The first winter storm to hit California has dropped two to four inches of rain over the burn area since it began Wednesday, said Craig Shoemaker with the National Weather Service in Sacramento. Despite the inclement weather, more than 800 volunteers kept searching for remains. "Collaboration btwn federal, state & local partners is a priority when it comes to helping folks get back on their feet". Almost 14,000 homes have been destroyed.
The Woolsey Fire, a separate fire that burned through nearly 100,000 acres in Southern California and killed at least three, was declared fully contained on Wednesday.
Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said they were in the last phase of repopulating Malibu and unincorporated areas of the county.
Ontario's largest utility said about 20 forestry technicians will travel to northern California on Monday to help inspect electrical systems in areas that were obliterated by the fire.
"The guys will never say it's hard", crew member David Kang said. Some 4,000 firefighters from throughout the state and the West battled the flames at the height of the fire.
Officials say three people were found dead and 1,643 structures, a lot of them homes, were destroyed.
