Googlesaid: 'We found no evidence that any developer was aware of this bug, or abusing the API, and we found no evidence that any Profile data was misused'.

Google will retire its Google+ social network after it admitted to finding flaws that may have exposed private data from up to half a million accounts.
Google is shutting down its social network known as Google+, the news coming shortly after The Wall Street Journalreported that Google had chosen not to disclose a security bug.
A software bug was discovered that gave developers access to private profile data of over 500,000 users.
The Wall Street Journal says it reviewed an internal memo circulated among Google's legal staff and senior executives that warned of "immediate regulatory interest" and public comparisons to Facebook's user information leak to Cambridge Analytica should the mistake become public. The company found no evidence the information was misused by any developers, Smith said.
Google is also going to be limiting access to the apps seeking access to your SMS and Gmail data. But those apps look downright buoyant compared with Google's own confessed numbers for Google+. Google said up to 438 external applications, such as online games or quizzes, could have exploited the flaw.
Google, replying to requests for comment, defended its decision not to disclose.
Google said it couldn't determine which users were impacted by this bug because the API was created to keep logs for only two weeks, and it didn't have access to historical data longer than that. This, combined with the community's extremely low user base-90% of Google+ sessions are under 5 seconds-were enough for Google to be done with it for good. Google was hammered again a month later, when the Associated Press revealed the company was tracking users' locations even after they'd turned off their phones' location history setting.
Google has already drawn controversy over its data collection practices.
Android data access is being restricted to app developers.
In any case, the conclusion is the same: Google is shutting down the consumer version of Google+, citing challenges in maintaining the service effectively.
