With winds at 75 miles per hour (120 km per hour), Florence became a Category 1 hurricane and was expected to develop into a major storm, defined as Category 3 or higher, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami.

SC emergency officials have elevated the state's readiness again, as they prepare for the possibility of Florence becoming a major hurricane and affecting the state.

A BWS spokesman said: “Bermuda should remain outside the radius of tropical storm force winds and the only significant impact is expected to be rough to very rough southeasterly swells, which could create hazardous rip currents, especially along the South Shore.”.

The storm's sustained winds reached 121 km/h, just over the threshold for a hurricane, on Sunday morning as it was moving across the Atlantic, about 1,210 km/h southeast of Bermuda.

The storm's center will move northwest between Bermuda and the Bahamas on Tuesday and Wednesday. Such swells can lead to risky surf and rip currents, the NHC warned.

As of a 11 p.m. ET, Isaac was located 1,580 miles east of the Windward Islands, which include St. Lucia, Dominica, Martinquie and Grenada.

Tropical Storm Florence is becoming a "better organized" weather system that will likely strengthen into a hurricane late Saturday, weather forecasters said.

Dead in Mass Shooting at Fifth Third Bank Building in Downtown Cincinnati
Records show the shooter formerly lived in SC and South Florida and had been charged with some non-violent crimes years ago. The judge said in the document that the complaint was "rambling, hard to decipher, and borders on the delusional".

A tropical storm warning and hurricane watch are in effect for the Cabo Verde islands of Santiago, Fogo, and Brava.

The massive hurricane poses a serious threat as it barrels toward a landfall somewhere along the East Coast on Thursday.

Risky hurricane expected to reach major storm status Monday.

News of Tropical Storm Isaac comes only days ahead of the 30th anniversary of Hurricane Gilbert making landfall and ravaging Jamaica on September 12, 1988. ET, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said in an advisory.

But forecasters said that the risk of "direct impacts continues to increase" and that a huge coastal area from northern Florida to North Carolina should prepare for a major hit.

The 2018 hurricane season blew into high gear on Sunday.

The State of Emergency Response Team, which includes the Emergency Management, State Highway Patrol and North Carolina National Guard, are ready to deploy.
