Kaepernick was the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem before games in 2016 to protest racial inequality and police brutality.

President Donald Trump tweeted that "Nike is getting absolutely killed with anger and boycotts". I'm not gonna speak for them, but there was no one happy about it.

The campaign has been condemned by some, including United States president Donald Trump, while sports stars such as LeBron James and Serena Williams have come out in support of Nike and Kaepernick.

Kaepernick says: "Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything".

Nike has grown in popularity among millennial investors after releasing its controversial Colin Kaepernick ad.

The protests opposing Kaepernick are largely fulled by the former San Francisco 49er decision to kneel during the National Anthem.

The company's stock has risen 28 percent this year, although it dipped slightly on Tuesday in the wake of the ad campaign controversy.

Wilson, who has a contract with Nike, also applauded the company's deal with Kaepernick. In a two-minute video narrated by Kaepernick, we see kids from all over the world trying various activities interspersed with epic moments from the world of sports.

The spot is expected to air this week during college football and Major League Baseball games, and stream on various music, gaming and other platforms, Nike spokeswoman Sandra Carreon-John said.

Nike's stock price fell by almost 4% when Kaepernick first revealed he was fronting the campaign on social media.

"I'm really encouraged by it", Stills said Thursday. Among Republicans, the company's net favorability fell by at least 75 points, and the number of Republicans likely to buy Nike products fell from 51 percent to 28 percent.

"That NAPO has chosen this matter to take a stance, only perpetuates the narrative that police are racist, with no regard, acknowledgment, respect, or understanding of the issues and concerns of the African American community", she said. In a statement, the governing body said that the college is free to set its own rules, but that the association doesn't have to condone them.
