  • False-flag failure… US cuts to the chase to defend its terrorists in Syria

Troops have been massing on the edges of the northwestern province which borders Turkey for weeks, raising fears of a humanitarian disaster on a scale not yet seen in Syria's seven-year conflict. More than 350,000 people have been killed and millions displaced since Syria's war started in 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-government protests.

The White House warned Syria's President Bashar Assad on Tuesday that if he chooses to use chemical weapons, the US and its allies "will respond swiftly and appropriately", pushing back against an expected Syrian government offensive against an opposition stronghold.

With the United Nations warning of a potential "bloodbath" in Syria's Idlib province, the United States has warned President Bashar al-Assad it would respond "swiftly and appropriately" if he uses chemical weapons against his own people.

Pompeo and Cavusoglu "agreed that any Assad regime military offensive in Idlib would be an unacceptable, reckless escalation of the conflict in Syria", said U.S. State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert.

Many of those living in Idlib are rebels and civilians who were bussed out of their hometowns in other parts of the country that have come back under regime control.

Idlib's fate now appears likely to rest on the results of Friday's Tehran summit between the leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran - a meeting that Russian deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov on Wednesday said would make the situation "clearer".

On Wednesday, regime artillery and rocket fire targeted several areas in the province including the HTS-held town of Jisr al-Shughur, according to the Britain-based Observatory, which relies on a network of sources inside Syria.

No ‘political necessity’ to keep Canada in NAFTA deal
USA goods and services trade with Canada totaled an estimated $544.9 billion in 2016, with a trade surplus of $11.2 billion. It's unclear where Canada and the US stand in negotiations and whether NAFTA talks could soon come to a close.

"We know that the Syrian armed forces are getting ready to solve this problem", President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, calling Idlib a "pocket of terrorism".

"Our cooperation with Russian Federation now is very important".

Erdogan as well as the presidents of Iran and Russian Federation will meet on Friday in Tehran for a summit expected to focus on Idlib.

The Syrian government denies ever using chemical weapons.

The human rights group Amnesty International said in a statement on Wednesday that the lives of "millions of people in Idlib are now in the hands of Russia, Turkey and Iran", and urged all parties not to attack civilians.

The Trump administration has twice launched airstrikes against Syria's government in response to the chemical weapons attacks.
