  • Mercedes F1 Boss Claims Ferrari Have The Fastest Car On The Grid

Sebastian Vettel could not hide his frustration at having pole position snatched from him by Ferrari team-mate Kimi Raikkonen ahead of Sunday's Italian Grand Prix.

However Ferrari's hopes of a first home win since 2010 are high after Vettel triumphed in Belgium last weekend with a auto that clearly had the measure of the Mercedes.

Hamilton, who holds a 17-point championship lead over Vettel ahead of Ferrari's home race in Italy, was due to complete his media commitments, as usual, on Thursday afternoon.

Other drivers: Verstappen scorched to victory a year ago, while Bottas delivered podium finishes in 2015 and 2017.

Both Hamilton and Vettel are chasing a fifth world title this year.

Raikkonen was front of the grid in Monaco a year ago.

Vettel covered the inside, but Hamilton moved to his right to take the racing line, and he was ahead of the Ferrari auto as they took the corner.

"I feel Ferrari, and especially this weekend, and that's what I want to enjoy", he said. His stint in front of fellow Finn Raikkonen allowed Hamilton to easily make up ground after his own stop.

"For all of us, in terms of is the auto is legal or not, the FIA is responsible for it and we have several checks throughout the weekend to prove that", Vettel said.

Hamilton ran until lap 28 before his pit stop, doing an excellent job in minimising the amount Raikkonen gained on him on fresh tyres. We started the season a little bit behind and also mid-season we had some weaknesses here and there.

Kenyan delegation attends Donald Trump meeting without notebooks
Trump apparently went on to say that the midterm elections were not only a referendum on him. "Little thing - Merry Christmas". The president specifically discussed one deal that is now in the works. "That was a disaster for you".

Back at the front, and it was Raikkonen who stopped for new tyres first.

The Tifosi are always there in hordes for Monza and Ferrari so it better be a Prancing Horse victory.

Other drivers: Bottas and Raikkonen share one win each in Abu Dhabi, and are likely to finish on the podium at the season-ending race.

Hamilton was closer than ever as they crossed the line to start the 45th lap.

At 220 miles per hour, the Briton drew alongside Raikkonen on the main straight before moving to the outside of the opening chicane and masterfully making his pass stick.

Unlike many young drivers in Formula One, who may fear saying the wrong thing and risk upsetting backers or partners important to their careers, Raikkonen is more candid.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says he is "very curious" to see if Ferrari will once again posses the faster vehicle at this weekend's Italian GP.

The Italian race has been staged at Monza every year except 1980 when it was at Imola.

"In future, negativity is only an inspiration for me". I didn't realize at the time that obviously I was racing for an Italian team, I had a Ferrari engine in the back so I guess it was sort of OK for the crowd and they were happy, too.
