Allardyce: Man Utd 'held to ransom' in transfer market

Paul Scholes has conceded that there is a chance that Jose Mourinho will leave Manchester United during the 2018-19 Premier League season.

Former Scottish worldwide Craig Burley raised the possibility that the club board were trying to push the Portuguese coach out of Old Trafford by "trying to make his life as miserable as possible".

Burley said: "It's incredible".

It wasn't a very successful transfer window in the eyes of Jose Mourinho.

Yesterday morning he admitted it was unlikely anyone would be coming in and now they are left with a squad on the same level as previous year.

Manchester United's search for a centre-back took them from Leicester and London to Munich and Madrid. He is one of the players that I have to speak to, to see how physically and mentally he feels.

However, the transfer window has ended and the Red Devils didn't bring in a single extra player to the aforementioned names.

United's summer transfer business was restricted to the arrivals of Brazilian global midfielder Fred, the injured young Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant, signed from Stoke City as a third-choice goalkeeper.

"I won eight championships and three Premier Leagues but I keep feeling the second [place] last season was one of my biggest achievements in the game".

Sarri set for talks over potential move for Zaha later this week
We knew it would be a step up in class [against Toulouse] and the first 25 minutes I think we were second best. There is always gossip surrounding myself every summer but I don't really pay much attention to it.

Former England manager Sam Allardyce believes break down in negotiations stopped Manchester United from signing a new centre-back.

United has a quiet transfer window, signing just three players. The agenda here is real!

After a dismal two years in charge of United, Mourinho has come under fire from the Old Trafford faithful, with his dour tactics drawing criticism from fans and commentators alike.

He shakes his head as he adds: "But to bring nobody in?"

United were willing to spend £100 million on a central defender - which would have eclipsed the £75 million Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk in January - but top targets like Raphael Varane ultimately proved out of reach. Whilst it lasts, damn well coach this side.

"They (the World Cup players) returned on Monday, trained Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and today (Thursday) so you can imagine that they are not really fit and ready".

"It's time just to say "tomorrow we have a Premier League match" and we have to play to win it". "I mean, it's early for that, but I am painting a picture".

In case you didn't know.

. I enjoyed last season, the fight to finish where we finished and to manage the best position this club has had in five years.

After they host Leicester, United's other fixtures this month are a trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on August 19 and a home match against Tottenham Hotspur on August 27.
