While the venture would be expensive, it could potentially aid Walmart in its ongoing battle against Amazon, which has taken a bite out of the profits of many brick-and-mortar retailers.

The report cites an unnamed source as saying that Walmart will focus on the middle of the U.S.to market a new streaming service, especially since Amazon and Netflix are entrenched in the East and West Coast of the country. Some 11.1 million homes have at least one of Netflix, Amazon or Now TV. Walmart may also consider a no-cost ad-supported service, which sounds much like what Roku has with the ad-supported channels it features across its streaming devices. In 2010, Walmart acquired on-demand video service Vudu.

Numerous other streaming services offer their original content. Hulu, Disney, Netflix and Amazon have all invested millions into original content. Apple is projected to spend $4.2 billion on original content by the year 2022.

Furthermore, Imran also advised his own party workers to show patience upon Nawaz's return to the country. A police official who asked not to be identified said more than 100 PML-N workers had been detained.

United Kingdom viewers are now more likely to subscribe to a streaming service than they are to a traditional pay-TV platform.

According to Ofcom's latest Media Nations report, which covers major trends in United Kingdom television, pay TV revenues also declined past year after a period of sustained growth, although pay TV still generates far greater revenue in total - £6.4 billion against £895 million for OTT TV services. The platform offers some free ad-supported videos, as well as digital movie purchases and rentals. On top of that Pay TV revenues also declined for first time. Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and Apple all plan to spend billions in the coming years to produce original shows and movies, hoping new content will garner success similar to that of Netflix's Stranger Things, Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and others. A host of new shows and movies are coming to Amazon Prime Video including oldies, newbies, and originals.
