  • Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz chant march towards the airport to welcome ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam in Lahore Pakistan

Some of the appeals sought the suspension of their conviction till the high court adjudicated the main appeal, and some requested the court to transfer two more corruption cases against Sharif from the anti-graft court of Judge Mohammad Bashir to another court in Islamabad.

The father-daughter duo was in London to meet Sharif's ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz, who is undergoing treatment for cancer.

President Shehbaz Sharif on Monday urged authorities to provide adequate and proper facilities to his jailed brother Nawaz Sharif in line with his stature as former prime minister of the country.

His daughter and son-in-law were also sentenced in the same trial.

Sharif was arrested minutes after landing in Lahore on Friday after being sentenced by an accountability court in a corruption case.

In a video message Friday reportedly from aboard his aircraft en route to Pakistan, Sharif said he was returning knowing he would be taken directly to prison.

The latest 16,868 cases, which the police statement said were registered in the eastern province of Punjab over the past four days, come after the party said police had also detained hundreds of members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the central city of Lahore.

Netanyahu: ‘IDF struck Hamas with hardest blow since Operation Protective Edge’
The Israelis retaliated with live fire, killing a Palestinian teen and injuring 220 others throughout the day, Wafa reported. Israel has carried out its biggest attack against Hamas militant targets in the Palestinian enclave since the war in 2014.

Around 1500 PML-N workers and leaders, including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Shahbaz Sharif, were booked today under terrorism and other charges for taking out a rally here in support of ousted Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

"Sharif and Maryam were surrounded by a huge wave of NAB" NAB officials and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), as their flight landed at the Lahore airport. Maryam was convicted for concealing ownership of the apartments. When he returned to power in 2013, he clashed with the military over how to deal with Islamist militants and his desire for friendlier relations with arch-foe India.

An anti-graft court ruled on July 6 that the family bought luxury apartments in the United Kingdom with funds from Pakistan in the 1990s.

The military, which has ruled Pakistan for about half its history since 1947, has denied interfering in modern-day politics.

Earlier in April, Pakistan's Supreme Court disqualified the three-time former prime minister from contesting elections for the rest of his life because of his corruption cases as revealed in the Panama Papers leaks case.

Subsequently, the judge dismissed an application filed by Haris seeking transfer of the case to another court during last week.
