  • Conte guided Chelsea to the FA Cup last season but is set to leave the club this summer

Conte was handed his marching orders on Thursday but Chelsea refused to comment or issue a denial even though Cesc Fabregas and John Terry paid tribute to the Italian.

Conte took pre-season training this week but ex-Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri expected to take over.

If reports in the Italian media are to be believed, Chelsea have gone the petty route by refusing to pay Antonio Conte his compensation after sacking him as the manager of the club.

Conte has managed Chelsea for the last two seasons, winning a Premier League title and an FA Cup in his time there.

They are in the process of clearing out his backroom staff so former Napoli boss Sarri can start ahead of the first pre-season fixture in Australia a week on Monday.

Relations soured between Conte and the board, and performances were soon affected.

But if you like Belgium to win, the safest play could just be on Belgium -135 to finish in third place regardless of the 90-minute result.

Conte was appointed as Chelsea manager in the summer of 2016, leaving his role as Italy head coach to take the job at Stamford Bridge.

It was clear that the Italian manager would not continue in his role after he fell out with a number of players and openly criticised the club's spending.

"I wish you every success in the future".

The main reason for the prolonged saga has been compensation.

And Sarri's transfer wishlist is rounded out by CSKA Moscow's Aleksandr Golovin, whose stock has risen in recent weeks following a sterling World Cup, and young Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani.
